The new science TEKS are here! With the new standards, comes a shift from learning about science to figuring it out using 3D learning and sensemaking lessons. Phenomena is a driving piece of upcoming instruction, and when used correctly, it will increase student inquiry and help students to see a connection between science in the classroom and science in their world. We will explore different types of phenomena, how to choose a phenomenon that is appropriately aligned to the standards you will be teaching, multiple ways to use it with elementary students and questioning strategies to get your students wondering! I will share some of my personal experiences in implementing and using phenomena in my classroom this past school year.

Join us as we explore the concept of interactive notebooking and how it can be utilized to enhance student engagement, encourage creativity, and foster a sense of ownership in their learning process. We will focus specifically on the use of novelty notebooks as a tool to promote student choice and provide opportunities for personalized expression within the classroom.
