Teachers and staff have access to a wealth of confidential information about students. This session educates employees on legal and ethical reasons to protect student privacy. We will discuss how to handle nosy neighbors and persistent parents with grace, while honoring student privacy rights.
As we head into presidential elections this fall, we will explore the rights of students and teachers to wear shirts and attire with political slogans on campus. We will discuss the First Amendment, limits to protected speech, key court cases, and best practices for teachers and administrators in navigating free speech on campus.
Cynthia Bauter, Northwest ISD's Title IX Coordinator, will train participants on Title IX violations involving students and how to respond when you catch a whiff that it might be happening.
