Building Number Sense with Your Students
Learn some fun, low prep ways to build number sense and fact fluency with your math students! Join us to build up your number sense arsenal. Cross-curricular social studies
One of the biggest challenges in making meaningful learning is helping students see cross-curricular application of skills. In this session we are going to help demonstrate easy methods can be used to help incorporate social studies into math and ELA and visa versa. We will be using the 6th grade world cultures warm-ups used at Worthington for the 23-24 school year as a model for how you can offer students the chance to practice without having to radically rewrite your lesson plans!

Hands on Session! Teachers will complete interactive, hands on investigations during this PD session. We will work with 3D Molecular Designs models and other lab activities focused on the new biotechnology and cell biology TEKS.

Session 1: Biotechnology. We will focus on investigations concerning DNA, genetics, and biotechnology. Attendees will build models on the structure of DNA and chromosomes, genetic inheritance, and various biotechnology practices such as PCR and electrophoresis. We will examine the TEKS for secondary science and work through student investigations that best support educators, supporting student learning.
